Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to the famous poet, scholar, and philosopher Sugawara no Michizane (845-903), who is considered the god of learning. The current main shrine is designated as an Important Cultural Property. The plum blossoms here are famous for blooming before those in other regions every year, and the road leading into Dazaifu is famous for a rice cake called "Umegae Mochi." It is said that eating this rice cake will ward off illness, clear your mind, and help you pass exams.
Fukuoka Tower, a 234-meter-tall equilateral triangular tower located on the seaside Momochi Beach, is a symbol of Fukuoka. It was built in 1988 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Fukuoka City. Fukuoka Tower symbolizes Fukuoka's new beginnings as a sailing ship, and symbolizes a wish for safe sailing. It is also called "Mirror Sail" because it is made of approximately 8,000 semi-transparent mirrors. There are two observation decks located at 116 and 123 meters, and the high-speed elevator, which ascends 123 meters from the ground floor in approximately 70 seconds, is a must-see feature of Fukuoka Tower. ※ Includes admission to Fukuoka Tower
